Hazelton Elementary

PBIS

Dear Families,

We are excited to share some wonderful news! Our school has been recognized as a California PBIS Silver Implementation School for our commitment to fostering a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students.

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Rather than only focusing on discipline when rules are broken, PBIS proactively teaches, models, and reinforces positive behaviors throughout our school.

Our core expectations help guide our students every day:

  • Be Safe

  • Be Respectful

  • Be Responsible

What Does Silver Certification Mean?

Earning Silver Level Recognition means that our school has successfully implemented Tier 1 (school-wide) and Tier 2 (targeted support) PBIS practices with high fidelity. It highlights that our staff's continuous hard work in encouraging positive behavioral and social-emotional growth is producing real, measurable results for our students.

How Families Can Support PBIS at Home

Family partnership is a key piece of our PBIS success! You can help reinforce these habits at home by:

  • Talking about expectations: Ask your child about our school’s core values and what positive choices look like in the classroom, playground, and cafeteria.

  • Celebrating positive choices: Praise your child’s efforts when they demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and respect at home.

  • Staying connected: Keep an eye out for updates on school-wide celebrations and rewards!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making our school community a place where every child can thrive!
